Just realizing Road Trip is based on The Odyssey

I saw a Road Trip poster and just realized it's a college-movie version of The Odyssey.

It's been awhile so there may be more connections, but:

• Tom Green tells the story to a bunch of students, like a Greek storyteller

• The main guy is trying to get to Ithaca (Odysseus' kingdom he's trying to return to)

• His Queen had suitors trying to get her attention, and the main guy is worried about his girlfriend and other men

• All the hijinks on the trip are humorous parallels to all the obstacles Odysseus and his men encountered

Maybe I'm the only person that cares and likes making these connections, but thought I'd share just in case :)

EDIT: Some people have corrected some details in comments, which is fair because it's been 20+ years since I've watched it. But the motifs are still there :)
