Re-potting paints and adding too much water
So I recently went through a hassle of putting all my Citadel paints in dropper bottles. While some would flow nicely just after a good shake (shades and contrast), layer and base paints required adding drops of distilled water and using stainless steel balls to break up pigments.
I took a break from painting and finally started again in 2025. But I've noticed that all of my base and layer paints are way too watery now, and it's impossible to get decent consistency (they literally flow like colored water, and I have to leave drops to dry on a regular palette in order to use them.
I was wondering could leaving the bottles open for a couple of days help? So part of the water evaporates? Or is the hole on dropper bottles way too small for something like that to happen? And if that doesn't work, could removing the "dropper" part from the bottle and leaving them open help? While I'd like to avoid that if possible due to possible spillage, I feel like it's still a better option than replacing 40ish or so paints.
And yes, I did shake them REALLY HARD before use, and I don't see any visible separation of pigment and water, but even fully mixed they are still too watery.
