What's going on with the weather?

We arrived yesterday on Kudafushi and the weather is horrible. The forecast doesn't look any better. I was hoping that even it's raining, we get at least a few hours of sun but it seems like that it will be cloudy and rainy the entire week.

Can anyone give me a bit of hope? I thought January is one of the best times to come here :(
