My heart is heavy today

My heart is heavy today. Dr.Singh, a person I look up to, a man whose silence spoke more than most speeches, who always responded with grace, reacted with facts, stuck to the point, held press conferences, always put himself in a position to be answerable to people, is no more.

He was the best student that India ever had. He was the most educated and accomplished leader that the world ever had. He was a politician that is not meant to be. India survived 1991 because Dr.Singh was born an Indian.

Way back in 2010, Our Hindi magazine was set for launch. Dr. Singh had committed to launch it. On the day of the launch, he was fighting a desperate battle on the women’s reservation bill in the parliament. His office called me to say that the then HRD minister, Mr.Kapil Sibal would launch it. I said NO. It was either Dr. Singh or none. Our English magazine was launched by Dr. Kalam. Both, living examples of how they believed in education, pursued it despite the most difficult circumstances and beat every odd to become the most powerful people in India. All because of EDUCATION. That is what CAREERS360 stands for and I wasn’t willing to attribute that DNA to any other politician.

Hearing my argument, he took out time in the middle of a parliamentary session and launched Careers360.

There hasn’t been and will ever be a more knowledgeable and dignified and a humble man to sit on that throne than Dr. Singh.

Good bye sir. You are moving to a better world. Hopefully, a world that would judge you well and be kinder to you.
