Kobo Clara Colour

Hi, I wanted to purchase an e-reader for the first time and I saw the Kobo Clara Colour. I wanted to ask a couple of questions:

Would I be able to upload my own files on it? Meaning that if I have a pdf or epub (like university notes) would I be able to transfer it on my kobo and read it?

Is the Kobo Clara Colour overall good or are there any other Kobo at the same price that you think might be better both for reading books and manga?
