Advice Needed: 2011 John Deere 4120 Service

Hi everyone,

I have a 2011 John Deere 4120 that I inherited, and it’s closing in on 400 hours (currently at 395 on the meter). I reached out to my local dealership about having them come to my home to perform a full service. Initially, they quoted me around $500 to change all fluids.

However, they recently texted me saying the cost would now be $1,100 for an at-home service, which includes changing the oil + filter and transmission fluid + filter.

I’m wondering if it might be more cost-effective to wait until next winter and take it to the dealer myself. They’re only about 15 miles away, so I could handle the transport both ways.

I expect that at most I would get to 500 hours on the meter, the tractor runs like the day it rolled off the lot as my grandfather who owned it prior was a master mechanic who took excellent care of anything he owned.

What would you all advise? Is the convenience of at-home service worth the extra cost, or should I just wait and take it to the dealer myself?

Thanks in advance for your insights!
