3 Months PO DJS

23 yo (I had surgery on October 2) I first realized something was wrong with my jaws during college when my joints were painful and clicky. I wanted surgery due to TMJ discomfort and from scans I found out my airway was small too. My side profile was an insecurity as well. During my first round of orthodontic work in middle school I had two top premolars removed for crowding which might have contributed issue with my jaws growing forward to their full potential. In my experience my recovery was manageable and I am now back to eating normally… but slowly 😅. The only odd thing I endured was tongue numbness. As of now I still have residual numbness on and around my chin, little bit in my gums, and the tip of my tongue (not bothersome). As of right now my joints aren’t grinding or clicking and my bad habit of self-cracking my jaw has stopped:) I can see some residual swelling but it is not very noticeable to me or others. I am happy with the aesthetic results that came along with moving my jaws forward to the correct position and fixing my bite. Added bonus of straight teeth from having braces again! Overall it requires patience, but I am SO grateful.
