Ceann Comhairle Salary

Is anyone able to explain why the salary attached to the role of Ceann Comhairle is so high? The basic salary is €113,679 with an additional allowance of €141,834. This brings it to a total salary of €255,000.

Now, by comparison the Taoiseach also gets the basic pay of €113,679 with an additional €130,216 a year, bringing their salary to €243,895.

Surely the role of Taoiseach is more demanding and carries more responsibility? The Ceann Comhairles main job from what I understand is really just to keep order in the Dáil, preside over debates and votes. Does that really warrant a salary higher than the Taoiseach?
