Amaretto Cherry Cordial - Private Selection

From my first spoonful, I immediately get hit with that strong cherry flavor, but not in the best way. It leans hard into that artificial, medicinal cherry taste that feels more like cough syrup than anything you’d want in a dessert. It’s a shame because the base could’ve worked if the cherry flavoring had been a bit more natural. After a few bites, it’s hard to shake that overly sweet, almost chemical-like aftertaste.

The chocolate specks scattered throughout are decent, adding a little crunch and richness, but they’re not enough to save it. They don’t melt in your mouth like high-quality chocolate; they’re more like little bits that just break up the monotony of the cherry. The whole cherries are a step up—they give a burst of real fruitiness and a little texture, but even they can’t fully counter the overwhelming artificial flavor of the ice cream itself and these cherries are few and far between. It’s one of those flavors where the mix-ins are the only thing keeping you going, but even then, it’s tough to get through the whole thing.

Honestly, I couldn’t finish it. Every spoonful kept bringing back that medicinal cherry vibe, and by the halfway point, it was clear this one wasn’t for me. Even with the chocolate and cherries doing their best to hold it together, the base flavor just doesn’t hit right. It’s hard to recommend unless you’re someone who’s really into that specific type of cherry flavor, but even then, the execution feels off.

Final rating: 4.7/10. Wouldn’t pick this one up again.
