Tips for dealing with lapped cars in iRacing (especially in Formula classes like F4)?

Hey everyone,
I’ve been racing in iRacing for about two months now, focusing mainly on Formula classes. My biggest frustration is dealing with lapped cars, especially in the F4 class. It feels like some drivers either don’t understand blue flags or just outright ignore them, and I end up getting taken out of the race way too often.

I know it’s partly on me to avoid these situations, but it’s particularly bad in F4. The cars are small, fast, and if a lapped driver stays on the racing line or suddenly changes their behavior, it’s almost impossible to avoid contact.

Do you have any tips for handling this better?

• Should I try to be more aggressive with overtakes, or is it smarter to wait (even if it costs time)?
• Are there strategies for predicting the behavior of slower cars?
• How useful is voice chat in these situations – does it actually help, or is it just wishful thinking?

I love racing in Formula cars, but this issue is really starting to kill the fun for me. Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated! 🙌
