Late Night With the Devil review - slightly convoluted but does not disappoint
I like many of you was very excited for this, especially as someone who skips most new horror releases due to their predictable nature. Arthouse horror itself can be very hit or miss, sometimes it works and other times it disappears up its own ass. While this does take a hard turn at the end which I am struggling to wrap my head around entirely, everything leading up to that point is managed impeccably.
With the ending, for as confused as I was by it I still felt it was very well executed, and it added another layer of depth to the film's format which I wasn't expecting it to take, in the process subverting a pet peeve of mine in FF films, that being (potential spoilers idk) me wondering why the cameramen are still fucking filming? And the movie as a whole was tense, freaky and constantly played with my expectations. Will be thinking about this one for a while.
Definitely recommend checking this out, I'm sure there will be some negative reviews here soon but for now as someone with an extremely specific taste in horror I thought this was brilliantly unique and uniquely brilliant.
