How much has speaker tech changed in 20 years?

How big of a change would it be upgrading my Polk Audio Monitor 30s acting as front l/r in a 2.1 setup to a couple Klipsch RP-500M?

I know there’s a newer version, but I can pick these up for new at a price I’m not hemming and hawing over like I would with some more expensive options.
