Official NBA player - rapper comparison
It's so often seen towards different threads, so i'd like to collect it into one, and imma start with the most general ones and maybe some controversial ones.
Jay-Z: Michael Jordan, the best, 6 titles (the blueprint, the black album, reasonable doubt, 4:44, american gangster and vol. 2)
2Pac: Kobe Bryant: L.A.'s man, dominant and uncompromising
Pusha-T: Dirk Nowitzki: saw this on the kingpush sub, quite interesting. Career with longievity, and being in the background lurking until taking on the biggest stage and winning.
Lil Wayne: Allen Iverson, early seasons groundbreaking, incredibly influential, the younger generations cherish him, but ultimately falling short in comparison to his potential.
Biggie: Shaq
Eminem: James Harden, amazing stats, skills and all over game. Ultimately failing to grasp the goat title within the community cause of lackings on some areas.
Drake: Kevin Durant, always amazing but never the best. I think comparing LeBron to Drake as most do is inaccurate, as a lebron rapper career would have more than 2 classics (take care, nothing was the same). Take Care and Nothing Was the Same might be KD's two rings with GSW, an important accomplishment but gave the audience hope for more. After the two rings (KD post 2019, and drake post 2019), most of the playoffs/albums have been a disappointment or a failure.
Kendrick Lamar: Stephen Curry, even though Kawhi would be the best personalitywise. Moments before he should be mentioned in the upper echelon GOAT debate, came in around 2012 on the mainstream stage. 4 chips each (To Pimp a Butterfly, Good Kid, Maad City, Damn and GNX/Section 80)
J. Cole: Anthony Davis, showing huge potential but never amongst the very best, lacks consistency, even though in some games (verses) he is the best
Freddie Gibbs: Jalen Brunson, rags to riches history, suddenly becoming one of the most recognizable and acclaimed in the business.
Jack Harlow: Ben Simmons, being one of the biggest talents, suddenly becoming the butt of the joke and lowkey on their way out of the big league
Rick Ross: Dwyane Wade, amazing talent and some big moments, one amazing album/one chip for the heat. All rounder and lacks no skill, but not top 10 for long enough to be considered something else than in the mid-tier of the best players discussions.
T.I.: Kyrie Irving, one of the best in the game on their peak but too much BS to mantain focus enough to be one of the greatest ever. Came in to the game as close to a finished product.
Nas: Kareem Abdul Jabbar, very reasonable to deem him the GOAT, very uncompromising and not pop-crossover at all. Maybe the greatest debut season ever (comparable to Nas' pre-illmatic verses and Halftime). Two years after his debut single dropping one of the most GOATed performance ever (Alcindar for Bucks, Illmatic). Late chips after his very peak, but in the end maybe not as flashy and larger than life than MJ/Hov
50 Cent: Derrick Rose, MVP in the first years than fading out after the first 5-6 years.
Ghostface Killah: Tim Duncan, longievity, one of the best ever, amazing albums everytime, but because of their lane, playing style, team(in case of duncan), never considered the best by the general public
