Why Snape is my favorite character
He is imperfect and is a realistic example of how being abused as a child can effect them into adulthood. This makes him relatable to some people. I can relate to being an introvert and being bullied as a child.
He is unique. There aren't many characters you can compare Snape to which makes him iconic.
Alan Rickman is what I pictured Snape to look like, just younger. Though I think Snape would still look slightly older than his age because of stress. His outfit is awesome and no wonder they kept the same outfit for all the films.
How he developed as a character. He was a child who came from a broken home and was indoctrinated into a cult to a double agent working for Dumbledore.
He is actually very selfless. Think about it. He saved people who hated him and wanted him dead after he killed Dumbledore. He also saved people he hated like Harry and Lupin for examples.
None of his actions benefit him. Even if a lot of his actions for saving Harry was because of Lily, there were no benefits for him doing so.
He didn't have to go to Dumbledore for help, but he did so, risking his own life. He said he'd do anything to save Lily, and spent the rest of his life trying to make up for his mistakes which is something he technically didn't have to do. He truly loved Lily
He could have stayed completely loyal to Voldemort, but he decided to deceive him for 17 years, and he did a very good job of it.
He had a job that many people would not be able to do. I know I wouldn't be able to do it.
I really like the scene added in the film with Snape protecting the kids from werewolf Lupin. I believe Book Snape would have done so if he had woken up in time.
The fact that he didn't want to kill Dumbledore and he really had to be convinced to do it.
He actions not only saved Harry but also saved Draco while making an unbreakable vow, again risking his life for a mother wanting to protect her son.
He is hilarious and has some of the best lines. Sarcasm is the best kind of humor in my opinion.
He is a war hero, regardless of being a mean teacher, and a very brave man. Insanely brave. He is an example that Slytherins aren't all evil.
This one may sound ridiculous, but apologizing to Lily for calling her a mudblood. Some debate that he didn't mean it but he went out of his way to do it and was determined to let her know that he regreted calling her that. Something that usually people who call people mudbloods wouldn't do.
It was right for him to apologize and he let go of his pride to do it, even though the friendship was damaged beyond repair.
The fact that he lived so long even after how much he wanted to die is proof that he is a very strong human being.
He did a lot of things even though he knew he would get nothing in return.
There were little hints throughout the series that indicated he was on Dumbledore's side and was trying to protect people, despite his rude nature.
People question why people like Snape, and this is why.
He couldn't change his past, but he knew he could change his future. His last years he spent saving others.
The fact he is the only death eater that can produce a patronus proves he isn't heartless, and is capable of love unlike Voldemort.
He didn't care about looking good to others and told Dumbledore not to tell anyone about his true intentions, to Dumbledore's disappointment to never tell the best of him. That says a lot about Snape.
