Games that feel Uncanny instead of straight-up Horror

Hello!

I'm not sure if this will get me any results, but I've been thinking about this and was wondering if there's any games that give off this vibe.

I'm looking for a game that is not Horror. I don't want it to have the usual tropes. The plot should be mundane, the game itself shouldn't even look creepy by the usual sense (like Resident Evil or Silent Hill). No, it possibly even looks "normal".

I want a game that is creepy in the same way liminal space images are. Or like the Twilight Zone. Where there's some off-putting or uncanny about it that is disturbing - but if you looked at the game at first glance, it looks like a normal non-Horror game.

I can't think of any games that come close to this so I apologize for not having examples either. The closest game I could think of was Firewatch - where something felt unsettling or creepy about walking around that forest but there wasn't actually anything to be worried about. That's the closest game I can think of with the vibe I think of. (Although admittedly I didn't like Firewatch much, the anti-climax didn't do it for me)

Any platform is fine, any type of gameplay is fine too. Give me your best suggestions if you've experienced that gives off the type of feeling I'm looking for. Thank you in advance!

Edit: Okay, there’s way too many people to reply to. Thank you all! I’ve tallied up the most suggested games by upvotes here, including repeats. But I’ll definitely be giving them all again. I don’t know why my posts on here tend to blow up a bit, but I thank you all regardless, I’m very grateful for such a plethora of feedback. I’m cutting things that only had 1 upvote for brevity, but I have listed everything on a Google Doc for myself and read every comment!

  • Firewatch - 22 (Come on, guys, really? It was in the post.)
  • Dredge - 16 (Amazing game!)
  • Superliminal - 11 (Solid game but it messed with my depth perception a ton, which hurt my eyes/head and didn’t really do much for me.)
  • Half-Life 2 - 3 (I mean.. Kinda? Ravenholm is awesome but doesn’t totally fit.)
  • Portal - 3 (Yeah it kinda fits, already played it and love it though.)
  • Inside - 1 (A little bit yeah, didn’t hit for me a ton as it might’ve did if I played it around when it came out)
  • Spec Ops: The Line - 1 (Shame it got delisted, phenomenal game.)
