TW RACISM, specifically racism towards black people because that's all I have experience with: Can people stop acting as if transitioning to a dude or being able to be percieved as a dude automatically gives you a whole lot of privilege, please???
I've mostly seen this take coming from white people (specifically terfs, never any trans folk as a clarification), which honestly isn't very surprising.
Being able to be perceived as a dude, or having your gender appear ambiguous, is not always a privilege.
For example, right now I am still able to be perceived as an angry little black girl, I'm deffos still a teen and probably won't be seen as a 'threat' to anyone.
If I'm able to be perceived as a guy, or have my gender be ambiguous, I'm going to be characterized as a threatening black MAN, NOT A TEEN, who is definitely a threat and should be treated like a fully-grown adult regardless of my actual age. Which comes with all the other racism against black men.
It's one of the reasons I'm scared about transitioning, especially as a poc who has always been perceived as black in a predominantly white neighborhood (especially because I live pretty near a police dept.)
So like, being able to look like a guy does not mean automatic privilege and I'm real sick of people acting like that's always the case in every situation.
