Is Ramsay Bolton based on Vlad the Impaler?
Today I was reading about Vlad the impaler(also called the Dracula or the Son of the Dragon and is claimed to the real life inspiration for Count Dracula of Romaina) and I found stark similarity between him and the ways ramsay Bolton behaved.
- Ramsay is a bastard and Vlad's mother's identity is little known about, also his father was known to have many mistresses.
- Both betrayed the houses they once had cordial relation with, Ramsay and his father against the starks and Vlad against the turks, Vlad and his brother were given to the turks as a sign of truce where they were educated in various fields of studies. Some accounts state that he might hhave been sexually assaulted there which might be the reason for his psychhopathetic behavior.
- Both used the native language of the opponent to win over them only to brutally decimate the entire population. Vlad used the turkish language to perssuade the guards to open the gates of castle and Ramsay used Theon to negotiate with the guards promising them safe passage. In the end the entire population was tortured in one way or the other.
- Both had insatiable penchant for violence. Both had a very unique style of torturing. Ramsay Bolton was famous for his flaying so much so that the chose banner had the falyed man on it and Vlad loved impaling his victims on stakes. His style of torture became his nick name as well.
- Infact both displayed a morbid sense of humor where both enjoyed the torturing of their victims. Ramsay with Theon's dismemberement and eating the sausage joke in front of him and Vlad's comment of his victims twitched about like frogs. So both might be psychopaths in some rights.
