can anyone help me?

this is my first real play though so i'm on very easy mode. i'm currently on level 10 and ive just entered virgil's lab. however, it feels like the game is absolutely kicking my ass and i feel like i never have enough ammo. am i doing the quests im doing too early? can anyone tell me what quests would be easier for me and does anyone have any tips for me?
