RTTP Appreciation

Okay, so since I finished mapping it out a few days ago, I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate RTTP, specifically 8-Bit Escape and the rabbit hunter route (the one with adult Chip).

The name 8-Bit Escape came into play in a way that I could not have anticipated, but it’s a brilliant name for an arcade game that sucks Oswald into it. I realized that it’s where the significance of the book’s title comes into play too. And the pixel art is so cute! Look at these little guys!

As for the rabbit hunter route, I was relieved to find that Mike and Chip are still alive in Oswald’s time, and I felt intrigued upon discovering that Gabrielle is Chip’s daughter. Also the plot for this storyline was so well-written: Oz discovers that there’s a whole team ready to hunt down the Yellow Thing, and then he finds out that the very man whom the creature was hiding as is the leader of the squadron of hunters! I’ve looked at this story from a psychological angle and a meta angle, but looking at it from a dramatic angle, whoever developed that plot point was a genius writer. I probably couldn’t have thought of anything like that.

Other than those two things, the story portrays Oswald’s thoughts and emotions quite well, especially with regard to his depression, blame, excitement, and grief among anything else I haven’t listed.

For those who have read the book, let me know what you thought of it and if you share some of the above opinions.
