Anybody else’s hair lost a lot of density after covid?

I used to be so proud of my hair… while fine it was still decently dense and pretty.

Somewhere during covid it started falling out, not sure if it was the stress, depression, vaccines or disease itself.

It just hasn’t grown back the same. My hair feels ruined.

Picture 1 is my hair at the start of 2021, not vaccinated, not depressed yet and didn’t catch covid yet.

Picture 2 is how short I cut my hair in order to let it grow back healthy with the exception of the 2 colored strands I allowed myself but stopped bleaching and cut that off too after a while.

Picture 3 is my hair now. Visibly thinned out and damaged despite me trying to take really good care of it. You can see the atmosphere of new growth at the top. It’s growing slow as hell and never seems to reach the same length as before.

I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t use high heat. Haven’t touched bleach in ages, I do actually have a bit of wavy hair naturally so the pictures are blow dried hair on medium/low heat (as in I can hold the hairdryer close and it doesn’t burn my skin). I always condition, use hair oil, silk sheets, when I can air dry I use a curl cream to help with the frizz on my waves, I trim my ends whenever they feel/look split… and yet here we are.

And note that I’ve been doing pretty well mentally since the end of covid restrictions mid 2022 so my hair in combination with less cortisol should’ve also got better, but it didn’t.

What can I do? Did this happen to anyone else too?
