Confused - Post follow up appointment
Laparoscopy for Endo - July 2024, UK
I had surgery to remove what I was told was mild endometriosis on the back of my womb back in July, and was discharged with a patient initiated follow up if I needed it within 6 months.
I also had a hysteroscopy and a coil fitted to help with my periods.
When they visited me in recovery, they explained this and my letter stated mild endometriosis and nothing else was mentioned.
Over the past few weeks, my symptoms have been slowly returning (pain during sex, digestive issues, bladder pain, the list goes on).
Yesterday I activated my follow up and luckily they had a cancellation for the same day, but here's where my confusion begins.
My surgeon (NHS) discussed my symptoms again and also gave me an overview of my surgery, where he told me they found Endo on the below: - Womb - Ovary (partially adhered to my womb) - Bowel (not removed as not gastro specialist) - Pouch of Douglas
They also found a fibroid and my bowel was adhered to my abdominal wall.
I'm just confused as to why my surgeon didn't make me aware of these things and why after being so supportive initially, is now not concerned enough to refer me to gastro (which he said he would do if any endo was found on my bowel), despite me having so much trouble with IBS like symptoms and pain.
Any thoughts?
TLDR: My surgeon explain everything he found during surgery and only gave me half the picture. Colour me confused!
