Finally go for direct drive
Just received Orbiter v2.0 and installd it, to replace my stock style extruder (upgraded to aluminum though). E current running at 750mA RMS, so it produces enough power but not too hot.
Currently I still have my old E stepper and bracket in place, since I need to design a new adapter to run the PTFE tube. Since I'm using a filemant dryer and printer enclouser, put the spool on top of the printer is not a fesible option.
First print was a stringing tower, (0mm to 1mm, 0.2mm step), already showed incredible result! no string from 0.4mm retractration.
And I'm using Manta fan duct, the author only has dd adapter for orbiter 1.5, I have remixed it so it can fit orbiter 2.0, still fix some errors but if anyone is interested I'll publish it to thingiverse.
