Only one week in Ecuador!

Hello! I am so excited to be making my first trip to Ecuador! I have wanting to travel to Ecuador since I saw pictures of it as a child, and I'm fortunate to be able to go this February! I do not have a ton of time there (7 full days) and was hopeful for some suggestions on what areas to prioritize.

The options I have been looking into have been:

• having both Quito and Baños as a homebase. This would hopefully allow me to explore both areas as well as do a few day trips (would love to see Cotopaxi!)
• having Quito and somewhere outside of Tena as a homebase. This would allow be to spend more time in the rainforest.

I love trips that take me off the beaten path. Any trip suggestions and/or must-see places would be appreciated!
