Advice of authenticating and dating an Eames DAT
I came across this Eames DAT (Desk height Armchair on Tilt base) for sale the other day. It has no visible stamps, but has an intact D147613 to 2738835 patent label. Along with the second-generation contract base, the chair would have been made between 1957 – 1959. According to the sleuthing I’ve done, the stamp may be underneath the patent label. Therefore, my question is this: would it be worth trying to (very carefully) remove the label to potentially expose the stamp, in order to more definitively date and authenticate the chair?
