Why so much hate?

Plenty of big names have gone down in NZ, lots of them have ripped off the vulnerable, harmed others violently or have been revolting people in a varietyof ways. In the scheme of things once banks and finance companies are out of the picture the Clarkes cash loss and number of people they've effected is big, but it isn't enormous.

The Clarkes are clowns and awful people. But I've never witnessed such a public outpouring of vitriol in NZ. It's coming from a lot of directions. What makes these two so deserving of this attention and scorn? What have they done to you? What horror stories would you remind them of when they look here and want to blame it all on 'haters' and 'tall poppy syndrome'? In what ways have you seen them victimise others apart from emptying their retirement funds?
