No longer getting 2x XP boost for completing lessons?

For about two weeks now I have not received any XP boosts from completing lessons, only receiving gems instead. Is this a thing or is it a bug? I currently only get about one or two XP boosts a day from completing quests, but nothing for completing a lesson level…

Just wondering if this is normal and is happening to other people too?
