Anyone here using GrapheneOS to dumb down phone while keeping essential apps?
I'm currently using an iPhone SE 2016, and Screen Time is proving great to stop me from downloading unesssential apps and wasting time browsing on Safari.
However, since it doesn't support the latest iOS and it won't get any more security updates, I still have to keep my previous Android 13 Xiaomi smartphone around for Banking, 2FA, and Health appointments app.
This means that it's still there ready to distract me at home. I need to have only one device that I can safely use for Banking, 2FA etc., while keeping it blocked from installing new, unessential apps, and accessing distracting sites using browser.
Is anyone here using GrapheneOS on a Pixel to dumb down a phone while having all the advantages of a smartphone (Banking, messaging etc.)? And how is it going?
I'd like to keep Google Services around to be able to use apps more easily but I'd get rid of the Play Store to be unable to download apps on a whim.
Otherwise I might just get an iPhone 13 Mini for 250-300€ and have it last me till they stop supporting security updates in 4 years or so... but the Pixel 6 or 7 would be cheaper and probably more durable with Graphene so it's more tempting to go for that.
