DIFC traffic beyond the pale

I know traffic is a general nightmare in Dubai these days, but the DIFC (CPT especially) is beyond horrific today. It’s been jammed up until the parking exits for the last four hours, and doesn’t seem to be moving at all, whether heading towards Dubai Mall or the Emirates Towers. Is there something specific about today, or is this just the dystopian future writ large?
