How long have I had my licence?

I’ve had an automatic licence for 5 years I want to do a manual test because automatic cars are too expensive now.

But will my licence time reset? For example, when you buy insurance it asks ‘how long have you had your licence’, will I put 0 years or 5 years?

Will it depend on if I’m getting a manual or automatic car? Hope this makes sense.
