Question about buying Vessel of Hatred for this season

So I’m loving this season but I don’t have Vessel of Hatred, I’m thinking about buying it for the mercenaried/extra skill points/rituals & invocations.

If I buy it do I have to play through an extra bit of campaign? Not really looking forward to that.
