Guilt for Ozempic. . .

I am T2D. I could lose 20 lbs to get to an ideal weight, but not obese or even close to it. Recently, my a1c went up from 6.4 to 7.4 and my cardiologist wanted me on a GLP-1 which was approved by insurance. The cost is quite reasonable.

Since menopause, my wife has struggled a lot with weight. She's super frustrated, it impacts her self confidence, her mood, her ability to move around, her back, her energy levels, her ability to enjoy life, her work. . .I totally get all that.

I went for a routine visit to my Doctor, who prescribed this thing that she's been reading about that all the celebrities are on, and it was approved immediately by insurance because I am T2D, meanwhile she is not T2D but has serious health and well being concerns about her weight. But getting approval for Wegovy. . .probably near impossible and without the approval we couldn't afford the out of pocket costs.

I know I'm taking this for my health, but it's likely going to drop some weight in addition to controlling a1c. I feel. . .bad about this. But short of her getting a T2D diagnosis, it's very unlikely she could get access to same class of meds that I know could help her. And it's going to be weird. . .Not sure where to go with this, but I just wish there was a something we could do about the way drug are sold and marketed. . .I know there are millions of people like her who could be helped who can't get access to these drugs.
