Should I switch my domain to Frontend Development in this market situation?
I'm working as a Workday Integration Consultant with ~2 YOE at a Service based company. This role mainly uses low/no code software and less coding stuff involved (only XML/XSLT). Being a coding/tech enthusiast I feel workday consulting stuff boring and mundane.
I'm more interested in Frontend development roles and have been self learning and creating projects on it for around 1.5 years and applying for FE roles for around 5-6 months (not applying aggressively), but didn't got any interview calls yet.
Already spent 2 years on Workday role, and have been hearing from seniors that Workday roles are niche, high paying and less competitive. But I feel that this role will lead to repetitive and mundane work in next 5 years. While Frontend Dev work in really creative and excites me (surely won't get bored of it so easily, as already been creating projects and portfolio on this).
Please advice me, should I stay in Workday role or switch to Frontend dev role? As for me good salary and job satisfaction, both matters.
TLDR; Currently working as Workday consultant (low/no code) with 2 YOE but feeling this role is boring for a developer for long run, but apparently this role pays good in industry and is less competitive. On the other hand I'm interested in Frontend development roles, which is highly saturated and highly competitive in this market. Please advice me, should I stay in Workday role or switch to Frontend dev role? As for me good salary and job satisfaction, both matters.
