Jesus fucking Christ what is happening in Canada

I’ve worked two “jobs” so far, both said that they would pay me. One of them had me work ~30h and then said I wasn’t needed and fired me. The other said that I would get paid ~1/3rd of the minimum wage here but then paid my 0/3rds of the minimum wage and then ghosted me after 3 months.

I’ve sent hundreds of applications, my resume is decked out. 0 responses anywhere. But it’s not just CS, all the engineering students I share classes with can’t find anything. The international students are turbo giga fucked. The only person I’ve seen at my school land a job are these 6th years returning for an internship and shitters working for their parents company. The best part is that I live in Vancouver, supposedly the richest, most centralized, best economy in Canada.

Like what’s the endgame here? Abandon all educated high skill jobs, abandon research and development, and just have everyone compete for part time slave work? Making sure their hours are below what requires you to provide employee benefits. Well I got ghosted for part time work at random local businesses and franchises so idek. I’m dirt fucking poor, I work harder than anyone I know. I keep getting dragged along by a carrot on a stick by greedy fucks that won’t even drop a cent. The only break I get is shitposting on this shitty fucking site.
