Why did my PEM suddenly disappear? Super happy, but I DON'T understand what happened and am scared it will bite me in the ass later.
Hello everybody! I got infected in Februari 2023, floated between moderate and severe. Mostly fatigue, PEM, muscle aches, constipation, insomnia, POTS. Probably was mild since 2020, but unaware at the time.
Late November 2023 I got reinfected. For 3 weeks I was bedbound, high fever, high HR, saturation dipped to 90 a few times a day. Increased some supplements and rested as much as I could.
And then, I went to have Christmas dinner with the family and was prepared to deal with 2 weeks of PEM as I was accustomed to. But, it didn't come? After half a day I felt like I did before the dinner? So I visited a friend on new years eve for three hours, and the next day the same happened? Last Saturday I did an escape room with my family for my dads birthday and went out for dinner after. This was the longest I spent not sitting or lying down in months. I fully expected to feel like death the next day. But instead, I just had some sore feet. I was motivated to do house work, again more than I could do in a day for months.
I am super confused. I honestly thought I had figured out my triggers and reactions a bit lately. Kinda scared I will have a massive crash in a week or something.
What has changed between yes-PEM and no-PEM: - I got reinfected - Started mega-dosing vitamin D. Went from 75mcg daily to 300 daily. - Started mega-dosing vitamin C. Went from 50mg to 2000mg daily. - Doubled my nattokinase from 8000 FU to 16000 FU. - Increased my 5-HTP, gradually, from 100 mg to 300 mg. - Started using Tyrosine again (had some improvements with it before, but had stopped because I felt my body might have gotten accustomed to it) 1 gram a day.
Does anybody have any idea what could have happened? I have a hard time reading the super long recovery posts, could this point toward recovery? Do some people feel better after reinfection? I am so confused.
EDIT: I do not recommend people to try the same nutritional changes without good cause and reasoning. I based them on recommendations from my GP, on previous experiences and symptoms and some supplements I had taken high doses in the past but lowered the dose when it was no longer useful. Take care everybody <3
