Considering quitting my part time job to focus on last year of college
The title says my dilemma. I’m a 21F enrolled full time at a university, and my last year of college begins in January, as I’ll graduate December 2025. I’m pursuing a degree in business management, with my focus being on Human Resources. All throughout college, I have consistently worked part time, about 24-30 hours a week. I had to really hustle for a bit cause of some family issues that were going on 2 years ago, but now those have resolved. I live at home with family and have managed to save most of my money throughout the years and don’t have many bills. My current dilemma is that I am burnt out. I have always prioritized work while I was in college, and I honestly don’t think that is the wise decision anymore going into my last year. The places I’ve worked at always have turnover, drama, etc, and I usually end up being one of the only reliable people and end up with more than I was originally told. Going into senior year with no internship prospects, and not a lot of activities or organizations I’m apart of on campus (usually at work when events happen), I feel that I need to shift my focus to concentrate on my more important classes, find an internship or even just an entry job in my field. The jobs I’ve worked are customer service based; and yes the experience is valuable, but it won’t help me get a job in HR. I feel that I have enough saved up to be comfortable, and I have my boyfriend and family who would likely help me if any major expenses were to pop up. I just don’t want to make a mistake or make a bad judgement call I suppose. Everyone in my life is supportive if I decide to quit and focus on school/ internship. I’ve also thought about an on campus job as well, just to make some type of money. It would definitely be weird to not work and have constant income, but I feel it may pay off in the long run. Any advice is welcome!
