For my fellow Americans: would I be paranoid to get new birth control before it expires
Due to the recent administration handover, our reproductive rights hang in the balance. I’ve been using nexplanon as my bc of choice since I was 18 and I’m on my 3rd one. It expires in September, even though there’s evidence to suggest it actually works for four years but idk how much of a chance I’m willing to take with that. I’m unsure if it’s worth going ahead to get it replaced asap. It’s extremely likely in my opinion that abortion will be federally outlawed sometime within the next four years, but when it comes to the possibility of heavy restrictions being placed on birth control availability I don’t know if I ought to jump ahead of the curve. I’m not currently willing to get a tubal ligation at this time, not because I think I’ll change my mind but because I’d rather not undergo elective surgery and shell out an even larger cost for it. Since I no longer have health insurance I would need to pull out of my savings to pay for a new implant, but something like this would definitely be worth it for me.
I’m not sure exactly what I’m asking for besides opinions and a discussion.
