chem phd vs md vs other chem related jobs
i'm currently in my undergrad and can't pick between planning to pursue a chem PhD and an MD. honestly, i'm not sure either is right but idk what else i can do
why chem:
- chem is my favorite subject and i like it way more bio. i feel like MD is more like bio where it's more memorization and less logic/math
- the path to phd seems less competitive and more enjoyable since i can study mostly chem the whole time
why md:
- i want to work with people and directly interact with the people i'm affecting. also, i don't like research
- more job opportunities, more job security, more money
i know it sounds ridiculous to be considering a phd if i don't like research, but im not sure what else to do. even though i want to directly with the people i'm helping (like seeing patients one on one), i'm not sure i have the heart for the subject of medicine to go through all that, especially since i'm still burnt out from high school. i also don't really like biology and appreciate logic/math stuff way more. but i don't like engineering because i don't have any interest in building things or learning heavy physics or technology
