I think rick missed a big opportunity with Magnus Chase and norse mythology [mc]
So i think it's weird that a lot of stuff that happens in the magnus chase books is lifted directly from the myths.
Like for example the jotun-eagle demanding food, then eating everything, someone grabbing onto it and getting lifted into the air and has to get a golden apple for the jotun(i think in the myths it was idunn herself, but still), and the 'giants trying to squish their guests on the ceiling with a chair' in the first book, and the whole 'wedding but the bride is someone else in disguise' thing in the second book. Also the kvasirs mead stuff in the third book.
Don't get me wrong, i love those books(i even think they are better than at least the first two, maybe even all of the pjo books. I know, witch, burn me and all, but please hold of until the end) and nodds or even scenes happening exactly like in the myths can be funny, but the missed opportunity was with what is written down in norse mythology. Because what we have today is a fraction of the myths from the old times, because the norse people did more of an oral tradition thing.
So rick could have made up a bunch of stuff and gods and monsters and then some god could have said "oh that's just the myths that never got written down".
I hope you understand what i mean, and i would love to hear your opinion
