Looking into reasons why my new GPU isn't working and it might be the power cable?

Hello, first time in this sub but I was directed here after someone said that there has been known issues with Nvidia 40 series graphics cards going black screen and that buying a new 12vhpwr power cable can fix the issue.

For the long of it, one day I powered on my PC and was playing Divinity Original Sin and after about an hour of gaming I saved and then press 'quit game' via the menu. What happened next was that the screen immediately went black and I couldn't figure out what went wrong; mouse & keyboard weren't responding, turning the monitor on & off again did nothing and even pressing the power button on the case yielded no results (though I may not have held it down long enough). In the end I flipped off the power switch and left for an hour or so to do something. When I came back though, while turning on the PC was a little funky, I was able to get to the desktop and figured things were normal. Sadly though when I went back to play the game the screen seemed to freeze and the game seemingly crashed and I've been trying to troubleshoot the issue since in r/PcBuild.
I've tried everything I could that was recommended to me, reseating the GPU, trying to run a benchmark program, GPU-Z, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, and changing the monitor but all of it showed no improvement in the end and only led me to believe that the problem is my GPU which I've barely had for even a month. The only thing left for me to possibly try is maybe a new power cable as someone mentioned that maybe that could be the problem, the last hail mary available to me.

And so I wanted to come here and maybe ask for some possible cable recommendations and/or brands that would be good so as to test if the problem really is with the GPU's 12vhpwr cable, as well as get some more information on the whole GPU 40 series as a whole and if maybe my graphics cards is having a similar problem. I guess the questions are:

What kind of cable brand do people think is reliable that I should get if faulty cables are an issue? The person I talked with on the reddit said stealthsense cables from Cablemod of something from Moddiy but I'm not familiar with any of those brands as I only just recently build my first ever PC and so I lack a lot of general information when it comes to hardware and the differences of it.

What sort of issues have people run into exactly with the Nvidia GeForce 40 series cards? Have they also encountered black screens suddenly when exiting out of games? I remember when looking up PC build tutorial videos that 12 pin power connectors could be finicky and can even melt if connected wrong but I haven't had that happen to me.

Does anyone happen to have any idea as to how or why this issue may have happened and how I could prevent it in the future? I go into more detail in the post I made on the PcBuild subreddit and I think you can see what I typed there if you go through my comment history, as well as the various tests I did to try and troubleshoot the problem.

tl:dr - My 40 series GPU keeps black screening and I hear that getting new 12vhpwr power cables can potentially solve the issue so I am looking for some recommendations, preferably something that isn't super expensive as I'm mostly doing this as a first test in case that the issue really is the cable and no the GPU itself.
