Are Wolfman Clan Elder and Gurranq, Beast Clergyman related?

In elden ring there is an npc called Gurranq, Beast Clergyman and since I saw him I couldn't think anything but he is somehow related to wolfman clan elder in a mythologic way. He ask us for an item called Deathroot which has the following description "A source that gives rise to Those Who Live in Death." then he eats them and wolfman clan elder eats hearts. We know Komamura died, not really died but he is kinda dead just like this npc (because look at the description of the item he seeks). Anyway, is there someone who can explain if they are related somehow?
