Bills rant about how the Celtics should be allowed to keep their core together was completely incoherrent

Celtics will be paying 5 guys 200 millionish next year and Bill thinks they should be able to without suffering as harsh penalties as they will face (from the second apron etc)

He argued that you shouldnt be punished for drafting guys and paying them. You should be able to draft these guys and keep them together. Now that would be a good point, if Celtics had drafted the majority of this team. But Celtics traded for 4/6 core guys (Jrue, Zingis, White, Horford). So they actually would have no problem drafting and paying the guys they drafted, but what they cant do is trade for 3 more stars and pay them all 30 million + a year each.

He also said it affected the quality of the playoffs, which I don't think was part of the issue at all. Seemed to me like health was a much bigger factor, and the fact that the Celtics were that much stronger than everyone in the East. Which is more an argument against allowing them to keep this core together more than the other way around.

And then he said that the NFL is a better league now. Which is strange because NFL doesnt just have salary aprons, it has a hard cap. And thats what makes the NFL so entertaining, the parity is among the best in any sport. Its extremely difficult to keep a core of players together due to the cap, so teams generally have a 2-3 year window with any given roster. Before having to rebuild / restrucutre. So again I was confused with his argument.

So is Bill just completely in his homer bag? Does he have any actual logical argument?
