BGE vs Kamado Joe - Any real true taste tests out there?
There's biased YouTube channels sponsored by one manufacturer or the other, taste tests performed side by side but with different cooks, meat not cut from the same identical loin, and different cooker configurations.
This thread isn't about the accessory differences/availability, cooker cost, etc. There's plenty of info out there about all of this (and in 2023 seemingly these differences are fewer and fewer).
So the question is, has anyone done a true taste test? Cuts from the same rib roast dividing every other steak onto each BGE and KJ, cooked by the same cook, with the cookers setup IDENTICALLY:
- same lump
- same lighting technique
- same grid height
- same grid (or dome) temp
- same internal configuration (e.g. single deflector)
- same thermometer brand
And blind taste tested by an unbiased *group* of people?
If the two cookers are set up *truly* identical, I can't imagine the taste would be any different.
