Berkeley Professor Recommendation Letter - HS Student

Since UC admissions generally do not accept recommendation letters (except for special invitations from Berkeley), is there an internal way for a high school student who interned under a Berkeley professor to have the professor’s input considered? If the applicant mentions the internship in their application, would admissions officers be likely to reach out to the professor?
