Switched from Farquhar otpical to Fedorov optical. Seems like I can't play shorter ranges. What do I do?

So after asking you last week about a weapon in the poll most of people voted that Fedorov is the go to weapon.

I like it a lot as it is very fun. The problem is my kd sucks with it. With Farquhar I chose calmly my fights from a far and I could outsnipe some scouts.
With Fedorov I can't stay so far away and got to be closer to the action and actively attack points. But I seem to not doing it too well. I struggle to hold my kd positive and get more than 25 kills while with Farquhar I could go 50+ kills and 5.0kd.

I end up staying behind my teammates and just heal and revive them with some sneaky objective capturing, While I can get to top 5 in scoreboard this kind of gameplay doesn't really satisfy me. It is kinda boring and I don't feel skilled and being rewarded for it.

How do I learn to play better in closer ranges? I was just looking to get my first 100kills game and all of a sudden I feel like set myself 1 year back in gameplay...
