Has anyone else recently had unfriendly service at Pitango's Locations? 😔
I love both the Broadway and S. Ann locations (Even if they're a tad overpriced, lol. Such good stuff sold at both!) but had two cashiers recently that kind of dampened my experiences/make me want to take a break from Pitango as a whole. Also, I totally get it. I worked retail for many years and understand both dealing with rude customers (who are always right) AND especially the feeling of not wanting to be there at all on most days.
Earlier this week, not only did the Pitango on Broadway have a really strong sewage smell, the cashier made a passive aggressive deal out of various customers, including one with a young boy, who didn't immediately close the door on the way in. In my case, he acted like I was speaking another language when I asked to try a gelato flavor that was posted on the board. This has happened once before, months back, with same cashier. And why offer samples if you're going do it in a way that makes a customer feel like they're doing something wrong? 😂
On the contrast, this week, I went to Fells Point Creamery (which is open again! Yay!) and not only did the owner offer samples purely because he was excited for us to try them, he introduced himself and asked how long we'd been in the neighborhood.
I also went to the Pitango on S. Ann this week, and my cashier literally slid my coffee over without making eye contact or turning away from his work station (no one was there, which is rare) and didn't respond when I told him the usual "Have a good day/take care!" Etc, which literally everyone does in day-to-day transactions to be kind, and without even thinking about it.
Again I love these locations a lot. I also know too well that any retail job is shitty, no matter where you are or who you're dealing with. But wonder if anyone else has had similar experiences lately?
