Can I get some feedback from the group on whether this was a good booking or not please?

1st time international flyer. Booked British Airways Business Class IAH to Rome through LHR for 90,000 Avios through Quantas for my wife and I on August 24th. Also had $1,000 fees/taxes per person. This seemed very high but could not find any other Biz Class from IAH to Rome on other Amex MR partners.

Did the same itinerary (reversed for the same amount of points) for return flights. The only thing is the fees/taxes were 700 instead of 1,000 per person.

Still if we had paid cash for the tickets they would have been $4,000 per person so I guess that yielded a 3 cents per Amex MR point which seems pretty good but I have seen many people on here getting 10 cents per point.
