Can autism be an inherited trait?

One of my uncle's on my mother's side is on the spectrum. And mom thinks I inherited autism from my uncle. Is she right? Can autism be inherited? Because if it can be, I may need to inform my brother about this in the future. Because he married last summer. And if he becomes a father, a heads up that his child may also be on the spectrum would be most helpful.

Ironically, one suggestion I'm keeping on the shelf for if he ever chooses to become a father, is that I'd be happy to babysit. But ONLY if no one else can or will... because of my autism. And I remember the difficulties mom, dad, and my brother have, and sometimes still do have with me even though I'm an adult now.
