What are people's experiences who were 'foster kids' in the Australian foster care system?
Two of my brothers were foster kids (sorry if that's not the right term, that's just what we say), and they had the most wholesome and enriching childhood. They were placed in the perfect family straight away, they got to care for animals, sheep, horses, dogs, lizards, birds. They got to dance and do sports. We're bought quads and motorbikes and get to go overseas. Their foster mum always encouraged us brothers to have regular contact, as well as with our birth mum. I'm just wondering if this is a pretty typical experience or has our family just been exceptionally lucky to have these great foster carers in our lives?
