How to Visit GBR in Summer
Hi all,
What's the best way to visit the great barrier reef in January? With the stingers, cyclones, and humidity (plus frequent bleaching news) is it not worth it? If it was the only chance you would ever have to see it, would you send it? Regardless, what's the best way to see the reef during the summer? Far southern end?
For context, my girlfriend and I will be visiting New Zealand and Australia from the states Dec 20 to Jan 19. I made a post about my almost-fully-planned itinerary that didn't get many views, but in summary we'll be in NZ Dec 20-31, Sydney Dec 31-Jan 7, and Melbourne Jan 16-19 for the Aus Open before flying back, but Jan 7 to 16 we're trying to figure out what the best move is. We've never been to the reef and most likely will never return, so I feel like we have to spend a day or two trying a reef tour.
Also curious what else anyone here would recommend besides the reef from Jan 7 to Jan 16- Great Ocean Road? Tasmania? Adelaide/Kangaroo island?
Thanks!
