Adopting a Cat

Good news my landlord had approved a pet and said it cannot be a dog only a cat or bird so, Anyone have any good local cat adoption or even pet stores with cats recommendations?

Every adoption place I have found wants me to take 2 cats or already have one which feels very impractical.

I also want a place to go see a few since I have a young kid (1 yo) and it’s though to take him all over

My first experience was Astoria Cat Rescue which is a horror show in some lady’s house and she will only allow you to adopt 2 cats at a time…

Petfinder I have seen mostly full of clauses that I need to have a cat or adopt 2 at a time

Please help and don’t judge me for not wanting 2 cats

Edit: ended up taking the trip to bideawee in manhattan and it was incredibly clean and nice and the stafff knew everything about the cats and respected we wanted 1 only and paired us with a great match that we also got to take home same day :)
